Trent Grisham, the former Milwaukee Brewers first-round draft pick who was traded after his rookie season in 2019, belted two homers for the New York Yankees in Minnesota on Sept. 17, bringing his season-long total to a staggering 33.

Grisham, 28, had never hit more than 17 in a season, and he hit nine last year during his first season with the Yankees, albeit in just 76 games and 209 plate appearances, well below the 541 he has this year.

The two-time Gold Glove winner has been New York's starting center fielder this year and has an .825 OPS. The Yankees (85-67) entered Sept. 18 with the top wild-card spot, four games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East and 4½ games ahead of the first team on the outside of the playoff picture looking in — the Cleveland Guardians.
