Two men have been arrested after firing gunshots at deputies during a police chase along U.S. Highway 220 around 10 a.m., according to Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page.

The shots were fired around Paw Paw Road outside of Stoneville after deputies noticed a person, believed to have been involved in a series of break-ins, traveling in a white pickup truck. The truck sped away at about 110 m.p.h., firing on police officers, according to the sheriff's office.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies blocked the road and stopped the truck.

Timothy Williams and Seth Chilton were arrested, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office said the men are being detained at the Rockingham County Detention Facility in Wentworth. Charges are expected in relation to the chase and gunshots.
