FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (DC News Now) -- The woman wanted for allegedly stabbing her grandmother to death was arrested in Waldorf on Thursday afternoon.

The Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) said 28-year-old Breante Thomas fatally stabbed her grandmother, 81-year-old Helen Thomas, inside her home in Fort Washington.

On Sept. 14, just before 2 p.m., officers were called to the 500 block of Bonhill Drive to conduct a welfare check on Helen Thomas.

Officers found Helen Thomas inside with stab wounds. She died there.

Preliminarily, PGPD said it also believes the suspect stabbed a second family member. That man was taken to the hospital and is still in critical but stable condition.
