Within Leederville’s Oxford street food scene, one Chinese restaurant has captured the hearts of locals not only for delicious food but for the extraordinary story of the woman behind it.

Judy Wu, the founder and owner of My House Dumpling , arrived to Australia in 2008 after leaving her job as a high-profile CEO in China, leading two manufacturing companies with more than 300 employees and millions in revenue.

Coming to Australia meant Ms Wu, who plans to expand beyond Leederville, had to start from scratch, with no English, no network and no understanding of how things worked.

“Starting over in a new country was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Ms Wu said.
