Mac Jones being the 49ers’ starter might last just one week.
The San Francisco quarterback got the start in Week 2 after Brock Purdy suffered shoulder and toe injuries that were originally expected to sideline him for a few weeks.
But coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Tuesday Purdy has a chance to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. The quarterback was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Purdy could also be the emergency third quarterback Sunday.
Jones was named the Week 2 starter and helped lift the 49ers to a 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints. The former New England Patriots signal caller went 26-of-39 for 279 yards and three touchdowns.
This is Jones’ first season in San Francisco after he signed a two-year deal with the team in March after spending a
