A supplement marketed as a remedy for pain and anxiety, commonly sold at gas stations and smoke shops, is the subject of a public health warning after multiple overdose deaths in Los Angeles County.
Public health officials are warning about the dangers of the synthetic kratom compound known as 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) after the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner recently identified three fatal overdoses in LA County residents.
The three individuals were between the ages of 18 to 40 years old, and were "otherwise healthy, with no other substances identified as substantively contributing to their deaths." Alcohol was present in all cases.
