WILMINGTON – AARP Delaware donated $10,000 to the Food Bank of Delaware in celebration of AARP’s National Day of Service. AARP has long worked to fight hunger through various programs. For the National Day of Service, AARP state offices across the country chose local service projects to give back and honor the spirit of service and remembrance.
The AARP Delaware team also took part in a service project at the Food Bank to help provide food for Delawareans in need.
“Providing meals to those in need creates more financial stability in the community,” Lucretia Young, AARP Delaware State director, said in a press release. “We see families, including grandparents, who bring grandchildren for a nutritious meal. It gives hungry families peace-of-mind.”
