MOORESVILLE, N.C. — David Malukas will officially join Team Penske's IndyCar program next season and take over the No. 12 entry that was recently vacated by two-time series champion and 2018 Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power.

The team announced Malukas' signing in a Sept. 18 press release , saying it had locked down the 23-year-old Chicago native in a multiyear deal to drive the Verizon-sponsored No. 12 entry.

"We are excited to add David Malukas as the next driver of the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet," team owner Roger Penske said. "We feel that Team Penske will provide David everything needed to take the next step in his career, and we are confident that he will continue the great legacy of the Verizon Chevrolet."
