CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Guardians can’t lose, even to baseball’s best pitcher.

Tanner Bibee pitched a brilliant 6 innings, allowing just one run and fanning eight, as he matched Detroit ace Tarik Skubal in a 3-1 Cleveland win Thursday at Comerica Park.

The Guardians sweep the 3-game series and are now 1.5 games behind Boston for the final AL wild card spot .

Skubal struck out 9 in 6 innings, allowing one run, and regularly topped 100 mph.

Jose Ramirez blasted a 2-run homer in the 7th off reliever Tyler Holton to break a 1-1 tie.

Cleveland had tied the game 1-1 in the 4th on a solo homer by Jhonkensy Noel.

The win was Cleveland’s 7 straight and 12th in its last 13 games.

Relievers Tim Herrin, Kolby Allard and Hunter Gaddis worked the final 3 innings.
