Melissa Wooden was shot twice by Nashville police Officer Brandon Lopez on March 12, 2021.

Wooden had to undergo several surgeries and stay a couple months in the hospital recovering from the shooting.

Police said Wooden came at them while holding both a baseball bat and a pickaxe, though it's unclear if she was compelled by a shock from a Taser.

A federal appeals court has ruled a lawsuit, filed for a woman who was shot while experiencing a mental health crisis in 2021, can continue forward after a lower court dismissed the case against two Metro Nashville Police officers and the city.
