GIBBON, Neb. (KSNB) - We’re working to learn more about what led to Gibbon Public Schools going into a secure mode on Thursday.

Our reporter on scene found a Buffalo County Sheriff’s vehicle outside the school when he arrived around 2:50 p.m.

Just before 3 p.m., Gibbon Public Schools announced the SECURE mode had ended and a person was in custody.

GPS said school will be dismissed at normal time with busses running accordingly.

Around noon, the district made its first social media post saying “Out of an abundance of caution, the district is in a SECURE. This means the outside doors are locked and no one will be allowed to enter or exit.”

Gibbon Public Schools updated two more times says the SECURE remained in effect and they would have more later.
