One of the region's best junior sports teams of recent times has added to their legacy.

In front of an uproarious crowd at the Tamworth Hockey Centre, Farrer's open boys hockey outfit captured a third straight state title with a 3-0 win over Oxley High in the NSW Combined High Schools knockout final.

It was a fast-placed, entertaining game, but one that the favourites were always in control of.

Farrer's dominance was showcased via a brace to Archie Clarke, who captained the Australian under-16 team on a European tour earlier this year, and a 46th-minute strike to his NSW under-18 teammate Blake Scicluna that made it 2-0.

Oxley High - contesting their first decider since winning back-to-back titles in 2013 - did well to only trail 1-0 at three-quarter time in the 60-minute encounter;
