STRATFORD, Conn. — More than 100 units of affordable housing are coming to the town of Stratford .

Town officials report that on Wednesday, the long-awaited conveyance of the Ella T. Grasso Regional Center property on Armory Road was finalized.

The milestone was reached after years of negotiations between the State of Connecticut, the state Department of Administrative Services and the Town of Stratford.

Now, the town officially holds the property title, which will enable the creation of over 100 affordable senior housing units. The Stratford Housing Authority, LLC is set to lead the way.

The Ella T. Grasso Regional Center opened in 1982 and was once considered a premier home for severely developmentally disabled individuals. It shuttered its doors in 2016, however.
