(CNN) — The committee that advises the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on vaccines is meeting today to weigh potential changes to the childhood vaccine schedule, including for hepatitis B vaccines given to newborns and the combined measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox vaccine.
Today is the first of a two-day meeting that will also include a discussion on Covid-19 vaccines on Friday. On Thursday, members are voting on whether to recommend against a combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella vaccine for children younger than 4 — a move that would affect access through Vaccines for Children and possibly insurance coverage.
