'Girls are taking a hard hit, while nothing is happening with the boys'
If you’re a soccer parent in Edmonton, chances are you’ve seen players not allowed to leave the sidelines and enter fields for many different reasons — they’re not wearing their shin guards, they have exposed earrings, their socks don’t match the rest of the team.
But, this September, something new has been introduced in junior-high girls’ soccer. Players in uniform can’t enter the field until their gender-affirmation forms are signed. The game has begun, but parents are scrambling to get the declaration filled out so their daughter can play.
