A Worcester college police officer was arrested on opening day of The Big E after she hit a West Springfield police officer in the face, sparking a brawl that involved eight other officers and another fairgoer, according to West Springfield police.

Cheyenne Walker, 28, and Yanira Smith, 26, were both arrested about 10 minutes before The Big E closed on Sept. 12, the first day it was open.

Walker is a police officer at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) in Worcester, and was sworn into the department in June 2024. She graduated from QCC in 2019 and completed her training with the Worcester Police Academy before returning to work at the college.

She has been placed on administrative leave “while the College reviews this matter,” a statement from a QCC spokesperson read.
