TOMAH, Wis. (WMTV) -Across Wisconsin, cranberry growers are beginning to harvest this year’s crop.
Wading through knee-high waters, the bogs from Triple A Cranberry in Tomah are brimming with brilliant shades of red.
“These are called Hanes, like the underwear,” laughed Kelly Judd, owner of Triple A Cranberry. “Gotta get the berries off,” Rudd said.
For nearly three decades, Rudd has been planting, growing, and harvesting different varieties of the native fruit.
“The misconception is that cranberries grow in water, everyone’s seen the Ocean Spray commercials with the guys standing in the bibs,” he joked. “They’re dry year-round except for this time of year.”
