CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigander is about to take on nearly 500 miles on her bike. She’s hoping the ride will not only test her endurance, but also raise awareness and money for road safety — a mission that hits close to home.
Sarah Hubbard, who has spent the last three decades biking, will spend six days on her two wheels pedaling from the Indiana border all the way to the Mackinac Bridge. She's using the journey to call for stronger protections for cyclists and pedestrians.
“I do feel like people are getting so aggressive with their cars," she said. “It doesn’t seem like people know that once a pedestrian is in a crosswalk, you are responsible to stop and let them finish crossing the road.”
