PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Parents of students at Moses Brown School are raising concerns after dozens of fines were handed out earlier this week for parking on streets surrounding the East Side campus.

According to a Providence spokesperson, the city issued 44 parking tickets Monday in the area of Olney Street and Morris Avenue, which are directly adjacent to the school.

The tickets cited no parking between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on weekdays — the same hours students would typically be looking for a spot to leave their cars before class.

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said the restrictions stem from complaints the city received at the end of the last school year, with neighbors reporting that vehicles were blocking driveways and creating unsafe conditions.
