CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Authorities in Charleston said they saw nearly three dozen drug overdose cases in an 18-hour time span.

According to the city’s Chief of Staff Matthew Sutton, agencies reported 35 overdose cases between noon Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday, in addition to a handful more later this morning.

The number is an accumulation of reports from various city agencies, including the fire department, police department, and Coordinated Addiction Response Effort (CARE) Team.

No deaths were reported.

Sutton told WSAZ that the city might get between one and three overdoses on a typical day, and about 30-45 overdoses in a month.
