BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - More than 20,000 people will head up the hill this weekend to the Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ashland but not for carnival rides or the demolition derby.
Healing Appalachia is a music festival raising money and awareness to combat the effects of the opioid epidemic. The two-day event will feature more than 30 artists, headlined by country music superstars Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers.
Before the music fans arrive, there’s a lot of prep work being done by an army of volunteers who understand addiction all too well.
The event, which runs through Saturday, is already sold out.
