PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A local group made up of women battling ovarian cancer is inviting the community to walk with them this weekend in the fight against the disease.

Teal Butterfly Blessings will host its second annual ovarian cancer awareness walk on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the OSF Cancer Institute in downtown Peoria.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with opening remarks at 9:30 a.m. from the group’s members and Dr. Michelle Rowland. The walk will start at 10 a.m. in the Healing Garden.

The group was founded by Susan Depperman, with members Vickie Baldwin and Jackie Watson joining her. All three women are undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer at different stages and said they are determined to raise awareness in Central Illinois.
