Ex-Met J.D. Martinez recently flew to Los Angeles to help out Mookie Betts, who’s experiencing a timely resurgence. It’s the second time Martinez had a hitting session with Betts following one in Tampa weeks before.

The Betts revival combined with the Dodgers’ rotation coming together nicely makes them the October favorite. Their bullpen saved them last year, but with high-priced pickups Tanner Scott (4.73) and Kirby Yates (5.18) struggling, that’s their issue now. 3

The Angels have one of the more interesting managerial calls, as they have three paths. They can bring back Ron Washington, healthy again after quadruple bypass surgery, stick with interim Ray Montgomery, who’s doing a creditable job, or opt for door No. 3 where a few interesting candidates could emerge. 3
