LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The University of Nebraska honored one of the most iconic figures in Husker Athletics on Thursday with a statue dedication ceremony for legendary volleyball coach John Cook.

The ceremony took place on the north side of the Bob Devaney Sports Center, near the bottom of the pedestrian ramp.

Speakers included University of Nebraska System President Dr. Jeffrey Gold, Athletic Director Troy Dannen, Nebraska Volleyball Head Coach Dani Busboom Kelly, and Cook himself.

Cook retired on Jan. 29 after 25 seasons leading Nebraska Volleyball and 32 years overall as a head coach. During his Nebraska tenure, Cook built one of the sport’s most dominant programs.
