JACKSON, MI — Ke’Juan Watts, charged in the 2021 shooting death of an 18-year-old woman, said Thursday he feared for his life during a botched drug deal.

Watts testified he fired shots after being held at gunpoint during the marijuana sale Aug. 25, 2021, in the parking lot of Keyes Log Cabin Party Store, 500 Fourth St., near downtown Jackson.

“At this point, I’m not thinking about weed deal, nothing, I’m thinking about kill or be killed,” Watts said testified Sept. 17.

Sha’Nya Coleman-Young, 18, was hit in the neck and died.

He faces six felony counts including second-degree murder and a possible life sentence if convicted.

Watts contends he arranged the deal with Marshaun Cabell, 21, after Cabell added him on Snapchat and asked to buy marijuana from him. A 15-year-old friend of W
