BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Five additional people were detained on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) holds in Bryan on Wednesday when officials were looking for an undocumented man they say is known to abuse his spouse and repeatedly enter the country without permission.
Numerous witnesses told KBTX about an ICE raid in Bryan on Wednesday. A spokesperson from the department got back to us the following day.
Bryan becomes the latest city for ICE enforcement operations
ICE said 43-year-old Mario Bernal-Diaz was arrested for being violent and a known “documented spousal abuser who has illegally entered the U.S. six times.” The spokesperson added that he had been convicted of injuring his spouse in 2008, as well as illegal entry in 2016.
