At 71, Annette Bleney did not expect to find herself living with her daughter.

But she made the tough decision to sell her home as she struggled to pay basic bills.

"I had to because I was living from fortnight to fortnight and when my [car] rego was coming up I thought, 'Oh gosh, I can't even afford that'," she said.

Ms Bleney will move from the Capricorn Coast in central Queensland to live with her daughter in Rockhampton, 50 kilometres away.

"Hopefully, later on, we might be able to get another house with a granny flat for me," she said.

She said car expenses accounted for the bulk of her costs as she often travelled between the city and coast.

"The cost of petrol is dear and I try and shop around to see which is the cheapest," she said.
