Blood Assurance says its O-negative blood supply has dropped to a critical 1–2-day level and is urging donors to give.
O-negative is the universal blood type, often used in emergencies and trauma cases. To encourage donations, all O-negative donors will receive a $25 e-gift card. Through the end of September, every donor will also be entered to win a $500 gift card.
As the primary blood supplier for most Chattanooga-area hospitals, Blood Assurance says donations directly help local patients.
Appointments can be made at bloodassurance.org , by calling 800-962-0628, or by texting BAGIVE to 999777. Donors must be at least 17 (16 with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in good health.
