NEW ORLEANS — A reality show filmed in New Orleans is getting pushback from city leaders after a nonprofit accused it of using private crime camera footage without permission.

The show, “Homicide Squad: New Orleans,” is filmed by 44 Blue Productions and features NOPD homicide detectives at work. The company is allowed to embed crews with the NOPD through a cooperative endeavor agreement with the City.

Thursday, a representative from 44 Blue appeared on behalf of its CEO at a City Council Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting.

Bryan Lagarde, Executive Director of the local nonprofit Project NOLA, had sent council members a lengthy letter criticizing the show’s use of footage from Project NOLA’s crime cameras.

The cameras are placed on private buildings with owners’ permission. Lagarde
