BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A convicted felon was sentenced Thursday for illegally possessing a machinegun and firearm, says the United States Department of Justice.

According to a plea agreement, authorities say 26-year-old Kelvontae Rashad Wallace , of Pell City, illegally possessed a firearm and machinegun on two separate occasions.

On Dec. 15, 2023, officials say Talladega Police were called to a person shot at a gas station . When officers arrived to the location, they found a victim lying on the ground that had been shot in the stomach, back, and both legs.

Police found five .45 caliber spent shell casings at the scene and at least three bullet holes in the glass on the store windows and door. Officials say surveillance video from the gas station showed Wallace drive up
