COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine spoke Thursday to higher education institutions at the Ohio Trustees Conference and set his expectations for Ohio colleges and universities — to adapt to the changing needs of young people.
He is requiring colleges and universities to develop work-based learning programs, connecting students with co-op programs or internships while they are still in school.
“If we do that more and more of these, kids are going to stay in Ohio. It is all about talent,” DeWine said to the trustees from across the state.
The requirement was included in this year’s state budget .
