The Erie Town Council on Wednesday issued what amounted to a public correction to statements made during a late August meeting indicating that Lafayette city staff was interested in leading a joint purchase of land on 119th Street and Baseline Road with Erie.
The two pieces of land at the southwest and northwest corners of that intersection, amounting to roughly 78 acres, have been a topic of debate for months. An owner sent a request, dated February this year, to the Lafayette City Council for the property to be annexed — or brought into city boundaries and under Lafayette’s rules.
The full annexation, zoning and development review still need to be completed, according to Lafayette spokesperson Natalie Miller.
The land is currently in unincorporated Boulder County, meaning outside of c
