LosAngeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw announced his retirement on Thursday, which will conclude a Hall of Fame career in Dodger Blue.
One of the best pitchers of his generation and a 2020 World Series winner with Los Angeles, Kershaw's pending retirement will surely bring bittersweet emotions to Dodgers fans across the globe.
While speaking with the media on Thursday evening, Dodgers explained why he felt it was time to hang up his cleats at 37 after such an incredible career on the mound.
"I think it's the right time," Kershaw said during his availability for what sparked the career decision.
Kershaw's time in Los Angeles was legendary, but knowing when it's time to step away is part of what makes great athletes great. Perhaps the Dodgers will send Kershaw off with a World Series win?

Kershaw will take the mound for the last time in the regular season at home on Friday against the San Francisco Giants.
