MADISON, Wis. -- The Capital City Chapter of Muskies Inc. stocked approximately 2300 muskellunges into the Madison Chain of Lakes with the help of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Capital City Muskies is one of over 50 independent chapters affiliated with an international organization that focuses on improving fisheries and promoting scientific research.
There were about 1200 in Lake Monona, 1000 in Waubesa in Lake Monona and 100 in Wingra, according to Capitol City Muskies President Brian Felleck.
It can take up to four years for these animals to reach 30 inches, with 15-17 years for muskies to reach 50 inches.
