WILMINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) — Administrators at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington have given the all clear after telling students to shelter in place due to reports of a potential gunman being on campus.

The university posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that is was a "false alarm" and no active attacker was found on campus.

Previous posts made by the university told students to shelter in place as university police and local law enforcement swept the campus looking for the reporter gunman.

The university said it would release more details about campus operations soon.
