David Letterman is sharing insight on Jimmy Kimmel .

One day after ABC announced it suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! over the late night host’s comments regarding the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk , Letterman shared that he has been in touch with Kimmel.

“I have heard from Jimmy,” the 78-year-old said during a conversation on stage at The Atlantic Festival in New York City on Sept. 18. “He was nice enough to text me this morning.”

According to Letterman —who hosted The Late Show with David Letterman from 1993 to 2015— Jimmy’s message conveyed that he was “sitting up in bed taking nourishment. He’s gonna be fine.”
