BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — United States Customs and Border Protection seized approximately $840,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine hidden in a car.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Veterans International Bridge, CBP officers referred a 43-year-old Mexican citizen, who was crossing into the United States in a 2014 Ford Explorer, to a secondary inspection.
During the secondary inspection, with the aid of a canine unit, CBP officers found 42 packages hidden within the vehicle, according to a news release from CBP.
CBP officers removed the packages from inside the vehicle, which contained a total of 91.42 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.
The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $840,679, according to the release.
CBP officers seized the drugs along with the vehicle
