COVINGTON, Ky. — Tariffs are affecting businesses across the country. In northern Kentucky, some small business owners are raising the price on their products to cover the cost.

With every floral selection, Florist Kara Acri isn’t just building a bouquet. She’s trying to bring a little joy to someone’s day.

“People just kind of want that little bit of sunshine in their life,” Acri said. “That’s kind of what our goal is.”

Acri has owned Scarlet Begonia’s Flower Truck for five years. When she first opened her doors, business was blooming, but behind the beautiful petals lies increasing expenses.

“I received notification from my wholesaler that effective... April 11, that they were going to begin passing along the 10% tariff,” Acri said.
