NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The New Haven Fire Department has suspended the search for the night after it was reported that a person fell in the Quinnipiac River.
According to the New Haven Fire Department, crews responded to reports of a person in the Quinnipiac River in the area of 140 Middletown Avenue at around 7:38 p.m. on Thursday.
A fisherman at the scene reported seeing a man jump off the train bridge and saw him being swept into the current as he yelled for help, according to the department.
The search was suspended shortly before 10 p.m. due to low visibility and high tide, according to the department.
