A four-year audit of the Social Services Administration in Maryland found some children in state care may have been placed in homes with registered sex offenders and there were not enough checks to ensure their safety.

“I am just heartbroken to know that these things are still occurring, especially when they can be stopped,” said Del. CT Wilson, D-Charles County, who was a foster child and is a survivor of child sex abuse.

The extensive findings include allegations the state placed foster children in homes where registered sex offenders lived.
