Go back to a year ago at this time and Berwick and Hanover Area were on the same rocky path.

Both teams were 0-4 entering Week 5 of the 2024 Wyoming Valley Conference football season. Neither team really had an identity.

Berwick managed to change it fortunes with a 48-6 win over Hanover Area. For Hanover Area, it took a little longer. The Hawkeyes’ transition took place this season.

Now the teams meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Hanover Area in a key Division 2 game. Berwick is 4-0 with a divisional win against Lake-Lehman. Hanover Area is 2-2 with no divisional games yet and has been much more competitive in its two losses than last season.
