COTTONWOOD, Ala. (WDHN)—It was a weird start to the season, at least for the standards of Cottonwood football.

After finishing the 2024 season with a 12-1 record, the Bears stumbled out of the gates, kicking off this year with a 0-2-1 record.

Cottonwood was finally able to get in the win column for the first time last week after taking down the Houston County Lions.

On Friday, the Bears welcomed the Samson Tigers into the Den, and it was a back-and-forth first half with the teams going into halftime with Cottonwood leading 16-14.

But in the second half, the Bears asserted their dominance, going on to take this game in convincing fashion by a score of 40-22.

Cottonwood will look to continue its winning ways when they go on the road to take on the Rehobeth Rebels on Thursday, September
