A school bus carrying 19 children was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Bel Air, according to WBALTV’s Capt. Roy Taylor.

Officials said multiple students sustained minor injuries and were taken to various medical facilities.

In total, eight people were transported for treatment, six with non-life-threatening injuries and two with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities confirmed the two most seriously injured were not on the bus.

Witnesses reported that a 17-year-old driver in the lead vehicle was rear-ended by a distracted driver using a cell phone.

The teenager, a high school senior, had to be extricated from the car and was flown to Shock Trauma.

The crash happened near C. Milton Wright High School and involved multiple emergency units.
