CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A young man just short of his 31st birthday was shot to death, and as Chesapeake Police search for the killer a week later, his family pleads for answers.

The shooting happened near the 2900 Block of South Military Highway in Chesapeake. Family members say the victim, Yhuri Brinkley, had his life taken far too soon.

"You got funny, you got genuine, kind-hearted, always there, very humble," sister Yhari Brinkley said during a vigil held Thursday. "He was a great father."

That's how friends and family described Yhuri Brinkley. They say he was full of life but hat life was cut short last Thursday. His big sister, Yhari Brinkley, still remembers getting the phone call.
