A Koonawarra man with a "significant" criminal history who is accused of having 500 child abuse images featuring children as young as four years old has been refused bail.

Shane John Powter, aged 25, faced the Bail Division Court on Friday, September 19, for five child abuse material charges after the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police raided his Walbon Crescent home at 5am the day before.

"The material disclosed is graphic," acting magistrate R. Cook said of the images allegedly found during the police raid.
