BURLINGTON, Iowa (KWQC) - An October primary will decide the ballot for the Burlington city council election.

The city primary election will be held on Oct. 7 and will advance the six candidates with the most votes to the city general election, according to the Des Moines County Elections website .

Antonio Bailey (incumbent)

Antoinette Wilson

Christopher A. Roepke

Jerry Johnson

Cevin R. Cox Jr.

Jeremy Kemp

Terry Schnack

Jon D. Billups (incumbent mayor)

Robert Critser

Robert Gerritsen

The council selects the mayor from its members, and members are elected every two years, according to Burlington’s website .

Council members will serve for four years and voters can vote for no more than three candidates in the primary, election officials said.
