TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - After winning a national championship in only their second year of existence, the Arizona triathlon team will host its first-ever home race this Saturday.
Head coach Wes Johnson said planning for the event has been going on since March, but the pressure has ramped up over the last week.
“My phone is blown up all day with today with the planning; there’s a lot going into it, and a lot of hype and excitement around it as well,” Johnson said.
However, Johnson said this was something he dreamed of when birthing the program in 2023.
“I think from day one, it’s something we’ve always wanted to do,” Johnson said.
