West Coast have rewarded mid-season draft sensation Tom McCarthy with a two-year contract extension, while also confirming the re-signing of premiership defender Tom Cole and forward Jacob Newton.

As revealed by The West Australian late last month , the Eagles were working through an extension for the 25-year-old after he starred in his first 10 games for the Eagles since joining them with pick No.1 in the mid-season rookie draft in May.

McCarthy had an 18-month deal after being drafted, but has now been locked away until the end of 2028 after averaging averaging 24 touches and 470m gained in an extraordinary start to his career as a line breaking midfielder and half-back.
