MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A WVU student and a student at Washington & Jefferson College are now are charged with burning a couch in Morgantown after the Backyard Brawl.
The students have been charged with malicious burning by the Morgantown Fire Department. It’s alleged they used a flamethrower to set the fire last Saturday night after WVU beat Pitt.
The penalty for malicious burning can range from $1,000 to $2,000 and could include restitution to the City of Morgantown.
WVU issued an official statement in connection with the charges.
“We expect our students to follow all applicable laws and ordinances. In addition to the city citation, the student may face possible University disciplinary action under the Campus Student Code which specifically addresses “impermissible burning.”
Authorities
