Every summer, the American Association of University Women sends middle school-aged girls from across the Coachella Valley to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) camps in California. These aren't just any camps — they are life-changing experiences that open doors, spark curiosity and build confidence in young girls, many of whom would otherwise never get the opportunity.

This year, our branch proudly sponsored 25 girls to attend Tech Trek, a weeklong STEM camp held at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Most of these girls are first-generation students, and many had never before set foot on a college campus.
